If you’re experiencing uncomfortable feelings and patterns, such as, stress, anger, fear, or confidence issues, change is possible.
I am a both a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Hypnotherapist. By combining counselling with hypnotherapy, I am able to help you understand the different experiences that have led you to this point in your life, and help you quickly begin to release negative and emotional pressure in order to move forward in a more positive and healthy direction.
I’ve worked with many clients to resolve lifelong challenges ranging from anxiety issues, such as panic attacks, stress, fears and phobias to anger, grief, family issues, and relationship challenges. Why Did I Become a Registered Clinical Counsellor?
I believe that everyone has the capacity for change when given the right support, tools and guidance. I find it very rewarding to see clients move from lifelong patters that are uncomfortable and unsuccessful, into new positive ways of being.
Whether it’s flying free of fear, driving over bridges, speaking in public, enjoying relationships in new ways, having a healthy relationship with food and body image, or any number of other positive outcomes, I am able to quickly assess what a client needs and create a specialized program to move toward lasting change.
Counselling Style and Process:
My counselling style is compassionate, straightforward and highly practical. I believe in providing my clients with a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment where they can feel at ease to discuss their problems and issues. I also believe in quickly finding the tools and techniques that can help give clients immediate relief and begin the process toward positive and effective change.
I feel it’s important to understand what to expect during the counselling process. In our first sessions, we will begin with you sharing what you are experiencing in your life now, and what how you would envision your life being if you were able to move past your negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Then, I will integrate that information and design a realistic and effective plan to achieve your goals, incorporating any number of appropriate and useful techniques based on my training, education and experience.
I will fully explain the suggested approach, and answer any questions so you know what to expect and are comfortable with beginning the process of change in a safe and comfortable way.
Because my focus is always on finding the right techniques to help you feel better right away, I find that many issues resolve in as little as four to six sessions, although it always depends on your specific set of circumstances.
A Note on Athletic Performance and Sports Counselling
As an avid equestrian who has competed successfully from a child to early adulthood, I understand the importance of calm, focused confidence during athletic practice and performance. I have a special interest in and experience helping team and individual athletes to excel in their sport.
I have designed and implemented programs for athletes who compete at the regional national and international levels. Additionally, I bring a background in wellness, having created and carried out programs for the military, community centres and individual clients wanting to enhance their optimum health and well-being. The mind and body are connected with ongoing feedback from one to the other. Creating a balance in optimum health sets the path for fulfillment in life.
